the tourists were of Chinese origin.... there is a rumour doing rounds in the elephant community that the crushed bones of Chinese men help older male elephants "salute the captain"

Elephants rarely attack unless it's to protect calf/calves.They do get irritated fairly fast though ...and there are Dos and Donts once you find an elephant standing on your way.

1.Switch of the engine.Do not rev the car to scare the animal.
2.Do not hoot. This is not your grandmother.
3.Do not make animated noise.
4.Do not flash lights and kindly be very patient.

Those tourists must have missed something up here.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

So whats the big issue with the car models? Two incidents have happened.

The first picture cioncerns incident reported last year HERE.

And the second incident reported yesterday HERE.

Instead of concentrating on trivialities (car models), you should consider your safety when in parks.

Get us a pic showing an Elephant chasing a Hyndai car and subsequently mangling it, dont play with our minds.
You should have just posted the Hyndai pic and say it was mangled with an elephant....
Shame on you Shame on you

I'd suggest that you email the Huffington post reporter who filed the story for more info. He has a whole album of photos and even vindeo.

That said, elephants can be dangerous:

You said who? of which post? the same ones who've been posting Militias in RV and predicted with a probability of 1.6 that there'll be violence during/after elections?
