This is the 5th week that global stocks are rallying. Risk appetite is back - Yen and Gold are really getting a hit.

Stocks tend to be a leading indicaor of the economic performance (employment is a lagging one),could we be bottoming out out on the global recession? Are we likely to see foreign investors trooping in to NSE and push up the prices? The prices seem to be stablising, some rising marginally, and am weighing to get in now. Your take?

Most counters are up today. I think the index will close up. No significant sellers on many counters like KQ,Kenol,Olympia,NBK,TPSEA,Jubilee

Major counters like EABL,BBK,Equity are also up.

What of the volumes?

A likely impossibility is always preferable to an unconvincing posibility.

Price rises coz no sellers. There are no market makers on the NSE. ****

There are 2 issues/problems: 1) The max 10% rule stifles (slows down) price increases (or decrease) if there are no sellers (buyers) at the max (min) price level 2) Thin trading also means there is no 'real' price discovery for sellers or buyers. **** So the VWAP at 30/- or so (see other posts at SK) will create a situation where there will be no or few trades for ages.

For those with an investing horizon of 15 months, its might be an excellent time to buy. 2011 and beyond, its hard to tell, but currently we are not looking too good where it matters. The 2012 change from Gen Kiguoya.
My new year prediction was for NSE to close at 4,500 (though it was also 2,000 before end June in January sometime)...
