@ Obiero:Mkosa mila ni mtumwa.We should take pride in our different languages and cultures.Tribal identity is something to be proud of.It's only bad when used as a basis for discrimination esp by politicians.

A lot of Kenyans even a huge chunk of those in the diaspora take pride in their accents and the fact that their kids or themselves don't speak their mother tongue.Most enlightened people,even westerners think you stupid if you can't speak your language.Put another way to bring the point home,it's like a masai being proud he can speak kisii,but cant speak masai. It's stupid.

I will endeavor to speak and write my mother tongue better than english.It's the only logical thing.I am ashamed I can write english better than my own m.t !Am teaching my kids to write my m.t not only speak it.

I was working with a Polish lad and was amazed that he browses the web in polish.The entire WWW in polish even google! Even the dutch,only 15M of them have the web in their own language.We need to read and write more in our languges til we don't think much of reading the bible in kiuk or a 1000pg novel.We sh'd try and slowly develop www in kiuk for posterity.Lack of written history ensued loss of great cultural things.Am envious when the people say europeans talk of what happened in 1035AD in europe! Wish we had that kind of written history.

and then they would turn their attention......

to the rest of the world...

we... if we would like to develop...

is retain our cultures and traditions.....

positively.....

diversity should be our strength......

not our weakness.....

while leaving room for official languages.....
