This company is performing sub-par IMO. With a rapidly growing middle class in Kenya and a growing East Africa Export market, they ought to do better.

70 years of operations and their turnover is 30m! Someone needs to drill some strategic sense into the heads of the Directors, seriously. It is obviously a very closely held company and the shareholders should be ready to cede some control in return for more capital and human resource.

Is Hutchings Biemer still in operation? In 2006, it had already been suspended for 10 years. Eish! Is it still suspended or was it delisted? What was the initial reason for suspension? Sage a.k.a VVS, sema kitusmile

@YCSN, i think its better to lose money in 1 or 2 years then make billions in the 3rd year than making 200k forever!

@Sparkly, could it be that the 'share ownership protection' is a way of tax evading. #just_asking

Surely, how can you declare 55,000/- dividend payout for over 12Million shares for the 2nd year running?

This stock has been trading at 3/- since forever!

Sparkly I agree with you completely, some sense needs to be drilled into the directors of this company

Hutchings Biemer was just a vehicle to get hold of the brands it 'controlled' ... It should be delisted.
KOL is probably a shell used to support other businesses owned by the controlling shareholder. At least it makes a profit & the majority shareholder isn't playing merali style games! Or could be!

What happened to the following firms and their operations;
- African Lakes Corporation plc. It was listed at the NSE and delisted in 2002. It was involved in the transport business. Does it still operate?

- A Baumann is still listed at the NSE but suspended (??). Its was retailer dealing with electrical and farm machineries. Does it still have shops?

- Hutchings Biemer still listed but suspended. It was also a retailer dealing with furniture. Still alive?

What happened to the handful of shareholders?
