Old people lived for so many years yet they used to sniff raw, not refined tobbaco, but nowadays people die young cz of refined tobacco.

Drugs, cigarettes then alcohol.Supposedly weed is less addictive than even cigarettes and alcohol.I wonder how people do drugs. The first thought that comes in my mind is a genius out there thinking of a way of making the more addictive.

When it comes to old people,I think they were more health and tobacco nowadays has additives.list of 599 additives in cigarettes

Will tell you how a young guy gets introduced into drugs.
1.Peer pressure.-I know a school where boys used to grow weed in the bushes.
2.Low self esteem, lack of appreciation, support, understanding leading to depression. The occasional high is enough to carry one through life.
3. Idleness-starts with a cigar before gradually graduating into hard drugs.
4. Revenge-some people are so bitter with life they don't mind choosing a life of destruction as a way of revenge. Sadism.

Those are the few I have realised in young people.
The best way to tackle it is to get the person busy throughout, but we often do much counselling and leave the person wallowing in poverty and self pity so they relapse.

Still from Laugh your way to a better marriage, a very high percentage of counseling fails because alot of focus is put on the weaknesses of the individual as opposed to the strengths

From those I know personally, it's mostly due to number (2).

Let them feel good, but let them know it is bad.
Health people even tell them it is harmful to their health.

Quote:

In the mid-1960s, Morris Rosenberg and social-learning theorists defined self-esteem as a personal worth or worthiness. Nathaniel Branden in 1969 defined self-esteem as "the experience of being competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and being worthy of happiness."

Good to know...
But the same word was there in 1768 (Encyclopædia Britannica)...

History of the Encyclopædia Britannica
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Encyclopædia Britannica has been published continuously since 1768, appearing in fifteen official editions. Several editions have been amended with multi-volume "supplements" (3rd, 5th/6th), consisted of previous editions with added supplements (10th, and 12th/13th) or undergone drastic re-organizations (15th).

Any way, why do you asked?

If it is such a major problem,I would like to know what it is and what is causing it but since its such a recent concept it leaves me confused.
