Sorry @McDoba but this is all acting.
(Matthew 5:17-19)
Quote:"Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it. For assuredly, I say to you, till the heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one title will by no mean pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
(John 14:15)
Quote:"If you love me, keep my commandments"
The bulk of Christendom has misunderstood these verses as well as many others in the Bible.
They misunderstood Jesus all the timeevery word, every sentence they misunderstood him.
Many times out of frustration Jesus would tell them: you of little faith.
He would explained to them like little children
But out more and more frustration, he would tell them "
Yet you don't understand!"
He would call them "
you faithless and pervous generation, how long will I be with you, how long bear with you?"
What is the benefit of doing sonething once as an act?You see there so many things that people claim as a tradition, when they are actually doing it as convenient.
They choose what to do. There is no committment.
Take for example this washing of feet (by the way it should include face, hands as well)
Why should it be done as a norm?- It hygiene. No one can dispute this.
- For psycological purpose. Preparing person for prayer.
- It is commandment given to Moses by God. Check it out in Exodus.
And Moses and Aron and sons, they washed their feet and hands when they went into the house of God, as Lord commanded Moses.
Some people still fulfil this commandment to date
- Jesus did the same,
Look at other rituals of water(A) Partial washing of certain parts of the body e.g. hands, face, arm and feet before worshipQuote:"Moses put the water-basin between the tent of meeting and altar and filled it with water. Moses, Aaron and his sons used it to wash their hand and feet whenever they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar as the Lord commanded Moses" (Exodus 40: 30-32)
Quote:Jesus washes His Disciples feet (John 13:5-9)
Quran:
Quote:"O you who believe! When you intend to offer the prayer wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, rub your heads and wash your feet up to the ankles."(Quran 5:6)
(B) Ritual bath after sexual intercourseQuote:"When a man lies with a woman and there is emission of semen, both must bathe with water" (Leviticus 15:18)
(C) Ritual bath after menstrual periodQuote:This bath is compulsory for every lady at the end of every monthly period (i.e. menstruation) (Leviticus 15:19-23)
