“There was a giant under- explored hole on the map,” Africa Oil Chief Executive Officer Keith Hill said in an interview in Nairobi. “Now
the world has woken up to East Africa. I’ve never seen a basin of this magnitude.”

I like the way the news is always released like a hard drug dosage. Drop by drop until, boom, it's party time.

This is quite resourceful for all. Your pal in Canada should find it easier researching from the home country.

Kenya slaps oil explorers with capital rules - http://www.theeastafrica.../-/y5ep64z/-/index.html

Quote:
Kenya has revised upwards the minimum amount of money oil exploration firms have to spend on work programmes in onshore and offshore areas.

To qualify for award of exploration rights, firms applying for new acreage from this month will be required to commit to spending $28.2 million in the initial two years onshore and $31.2 million offshore in the first three years.

A new term sheet by the Ministry of Energy details the minimum work and exploration obligations, the mechanism for firms to recover money spent on exploration if commercial oil discoveries are made and profit sharing with the government.

Energy Permanent Secretary Patrick Nyoike said production-sharing contracts (PSCs) will be signed with firms that agree to pay $1 million as one-off commitment fee for an exploration area. The commitment fee has been raised from $300,000 and explorers must have a balance sheet of $100 million.

The new requirements could mark the end of micro cap wildcat explorers getting acreage...

Asante smile

Many have asked this questions. I hope they note it down. Perhaps you could also tell them about the tips to go about it as well as pitfalls to watch out for.

According to various speakers, the development of the coal and gas reserves requires building infrastructure: roads, ports, rails, power grids, telecoms.

That's the keyword - building infrastructure... Pet projects for big money while people are expecting UK and Co to be sanctioned... Too much money to be made will not permit those sanctions. Follow the money...

See the sectors above and think in the lines of Mpesa bank, Kengen, Banks, Insurance, mining (GEMS) etc.
