Some good old wahenga proverbs that reflect our day to day lives.

Ndugu yangu nakujua, proverbs are methali, vitendawili are riddles. A kitendawili is a hint that the audience is supposed to provide an answer to. The audience then provides guesses in the hope of getting it right. If after a while they cannot get they can give the the person telling the kitendawili a city (mji) so that he can tell the answer:

Kwa mfano (Ref: Jamii forums - Jukwaa la Lugha)

Kikiwa kichafu CHEUPE, kikiwa kisafi CHEUSI. Je, ni kitu gani hiki?

Mkuu kitendawili chako kigumu,lakini si tatizo mie nakupa mji.Nenda kigoma mwana wane ukale migebuka na muheshimiwa zito.Haya lete jibu.

Kigoma kwa watani wangu, siendi. Hata hivyo jibu lake ni rahisi sana.

au mimi nikupe mji? basi nenda dodoma saa hizi kumetulia wabunge wameondoka.

Kama ndo hivyo mwana wane,njoo kwenye lijiji la mwanza,tutakupikia matoke na risangara mwanawane.Karibu sana.

Ni Black Board. chafu ina chalk na ukufuta ni safi.
