Need to start a library for my former primary school

I am disturbed that my former primary school performed so poorly last year and yet it used to do very well back then when we were still the cocks of the school.
Am thinking of setting up a small library for the boys and girls of the school to see if there could be some improved. Does anyone know where i could get cheap library materials (old books) that i could start with as i look for funds to stock the current learning materials for the primary school kids. Na ni mashinani sio town

@Freiks
With the current changes in the education system etc.. the 'old' books might not be very helpful to the kids. I think you should focus on 'good' books,that cover the latest syllabus. Do you need storybooks etc? those ones i know of a school that donates every end of term..

Very inspiring.... this should be the spirit of Kenya. Looking back at where we came from and doing something about it rather than waiting for Serikali kuingilia katikati....

You also dont have to do it on your own. Am sure, if you come from ushago, there are guys who went through the school and are now doing well in life. how about contacting them with your idea? If you get one or two out of 100, it will be better than you alone. You'll be surprised at how many people want to be part of giving back but do not know how. We did the same and the number has really been growing....

I have already sent an email to a few of them and they are responding well but as you the virtual republic of wazua gives you more resources virtually and practically

Seen and responded. my best wishes to you! I believe even Wazuans with kids who're beyond Primary school can assist you with the used books.. A book here and a book there will definitely fill your library

very nice, kudos - the best way would be to receive book donations from various sources, a basic site and a post office address - probably the schools postal address where people can send books to.

I will be getting the postal address soon, I remember it then but with alot of changes am not sure whether anything has changed.

Make sure you involve some teachers to act as teacher-librarians. It will help them own the project and encourage the pupils use the library.
