@AlphDoti - I like.Very insightful and challenging.

God is graceful! His elegance is unfathomable.

Fear and desires always pull me to sin.But this consoles me even when I sin.
Luke 12:34 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

If God and his goodness remain my treasure,my heart will be there and my mind and body will follow the desires of my heart.

Romans 12:2 - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

It is said that David was a Man after God's essence. That is there's Man's heart and God's heart.

Perfection is when the two are one. And a common factor is the Mind.

The relationship of David and God is always fascinates me.I also note that David was a musician,a warrior,a king and a shepherd. I think the perfection state is the birth place of salvation and the mind is what you have at your disposal to steer yourself into that direction.

Talking of DAVID, they call him the "Man after God's own heart".

To me this is rediculous.
First, he commits adultery with Bathsheba the wife of Uriah:

(a) "And David sent messengers, and took her (Bathsheba); and she came in unto him, and he LAY (had intercourse) with her..." (Bible 2 SAMUEL 11:4)

(b) David wickedly caused the death of Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba. (Bible 2 SAMUEL 11:6-25)

(c) David shamelessly dances NAKED

Warrior/ King - Strength, Musician - Beauty, Shepherd - Wisdom, these are the three pillars of government.

That is, to be after God's heart is to embrace this Trinity.

The brain generates the mind, and the mind, the heart. One is complete when the three are one. That is mind- wisdom, heart- beauty, soul- being(strength). Hence Christ's injunction to love God with all your mind, heart, and soul.

Yes. These accounts show a Man falling short of the expected relationship with God. And in fact, David is punished. His bloody hands cannot even build the temple.

But while Man is prone to Sin or error, he is still free to pursue God's heart.

Such a Man was David, as shown in the Psalms.

Someone has already indicated that alcohol is root of many evils.

But let's look at a devilish advice about ALCOHOL in God's Book.

Example 1
(a) "Alcohol is for people who are DYING, for those who are in MISERY. Let them drink and FORGET their poverty and unhappiness." (Bible PROVERBS 31:6-7)

Example 2
Alcohol is recommended in preference to water!
(b) "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomachs sake and thine often infirmities." (Bible 1 TIMOTHY 5:23)

Example 3
What does the reality say?
(c) Alcohol is the Devil's handiwork says the ... Qur'an chapter 5:93

The heart is relationship centered, and is moved by pleasure or displeasure. Both pleasure or displeasure, are related to beauty.

Fragrance is also about pleasurable relationships, and is related to the heart.

Alcohol affects the brain, hence the mind, and in extension, the heart.

Therefore alcohol may easily drive one to transgression.

But so can it reduce anxiety, and manage ulcers in certain quantities.

Talking of DAVID, they call him the "Man after God's own heart".

To me this is rediculous.
First, he commits adultery with Bathsheba the wife of Uriah:

Check here
(a) "And David sent messengers, and took her (Bathsheba); and she came in unto him, and he LAY (had intercourse) with her..." (Bible 2 SAMUEL 11:4)

Check here again
(b) David wickedly caused the death of Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba. (Bible 2 SAMUEL 11:6-25)

Check yet another one here
(c) David shamelessly dances NAKED
"How glorious was the king of Israel (David) to day, who UNCOVERED (became naked) himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly UNCOVERETH himself!" (Bible 2 SAMUEL 6:20)

Yes. These accounts show a Man falling short of the expected relationship with God. And in fact, David is punished. His bloody hands cannot even build the temple.

But while Man is prone to Sin or error, he is still free to pursue God's heart.

Such a Man was David, as shown in the Psalms.

So let's go back briefly to tendency to evil things.

Alcohol affects the brain, hence the mind, and in extension, the heart.

Therefore alcohol may easily drive one to transgression.

But so can it reduce anxiety, and manage ulcers in certain quantities.

tycho, you are floundering here. You have said 'the brain generates the mind, and the mind the heart. so what is gods heart like? in it does reckless things like adultery and murder reside?

@AlphDoti - I like.Very insightful and challenging.

@Anti_Christy, you are right. I have been floundering. Naturally, this must become a point of surrender.

I must empty my mind into the great emptiness.

'Murder' and 'adultery' exists in the heart that utters the Word.

I find it interesting that a lot of influential psychologists are Jews.It is funny how truth is met in both science and religion.

Back to psychologists,Freud introduced an interesting model.Id,Ego and Superego. The id which works on the pleasure principle, desires and impulses. The ego which works with reality and the balance between the superego and the id.The superego which seeks higher ideals.Note, this is not exactly how he put it but my understanding.

Now the superego I have issues with.Does it imply we were also created to seek a higher purpose than desires and reality?I find this part very interesting.

He utilized dreams to study the id and the subconscious. So are dreams also a reflection of the state of our minds and possibly conscious desires?

Another thing,if the subconscious belongs to the id,the ego to consciousness and reality,is there a different plane for the superego and would it be spiritual?

One could think of the Superego as a resolution to the tension between id and ego. Ego is more or less a socio-cultural construct; a temporary measure before the 'I' is fully integrated.

Dreams are reflective of the person's cognitive and emotional activities at certain mental frequencies.

The subconscious is of the 'I'. They are potential points of presence.

How do you acquire whiskey?
Money will buy you things were once way out of your reach including fame, friends and even women who are not attracted to you.

It all comes back down to money!! Sad

True.. in order for one to live in this world we need money and the more money we have the "better" our lives!

The book of Revelations talks about the "mark of the beast - 666" that we will all embrace! Well we need to start looking closely at money!
