Your mind is either a heaven or a hell all the time.
Bill Graham

I heard this from Bill Graham and I was amazed and blown away at how simple and powerful this statement is! Simply put in another way, you either choose to allow God or the devil to occupying your mind at any given time.

So take a pause and think before you do something, say something, listen to something or entertain a thought because we are all human and evil always has the upper hand as it's more attractive.

Anyway, just had to share.

I think what 2012 implies is that it is always easier to do evil. Being good takes a lot of effort and the human imperfection thus makes us lean towards doing bad things.

Think about all the things that force you to sin, are they all not more attractive? As Joel Osteen says, the devil doesn't have new tricks, desire for 'the good life' by all means - women/men, wine and money just to name a few.

Is wine (Whiskey) and money evil?
The man who marries a beautiful woman, and the farmer who grows corn by the roadside have the same problem

In my opinion, no. But they are routes of evil.
Here's a question for you, what makes you sin? and I'm sure you know what sin is.

Money is very good, it enables me get the essentials and non essentials of this life. And after a long tough day, a glass of wine would do. Sasa whats evil about this.

If whiskey (Jamesosn) and Money are evil then is it in order to say UK presidential "win" was God's chosen?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with money in my opinion as long as you can control it and not the other way round. It's the easiest route to temptation. Most of the times, how you get it will determine whether it will be a blessing or a curse.

1 Timothy 6:9-11
But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.

The things that force me to Sin are those that represent my selfishness and desire for pleasure.

Now I see the money, the women, the power(wrath), and the wine.

But all evil lies in the heart.

The Way to Paradise is Very Hard
Attaining good things takes a lot of effort.
Ascending to success takes a great deal of effort.

So the way to good (opposite of evil) is filled with things that go against human desires and tendencies.
To achieve good needs strong determination and willpower.

Listen to these Hadiths, very nice hadiths narrated by Bukhari

Hadith
the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), said:
"Hell has been surrounded with desires, and Paradise has been surrounded with hardships."

Hadith
the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
"When God created Paradise, He told Jibril (angel Gabriel), 'Go and look at it.'
So he went and looked at it, then he came back and said: 'By Your Glory, no one will hear of it but he will enter it.'
So He surrounded it with hardships and said, 'Go and look at it.'
So he went and looked at it, then came back and said: 'By Your Glory, I fear that no one will enter it.
"

So my friends
Jesus (peace be upon him) said in the Bible that the road to heaven is narrow.
What do you think it means? DO you think it means physically?
No, it means it is difficult to follow this road.

So when you find yourself having ease
And just enjoying yourself, then know you're following the "wide" road i.e. the easy road.

I disagree. I think the heart is always pure, evil lies in the mind. Humility is in the heart.

You are right. Thank you for the correction.

Heart is 'essence'. And yes, there in lies humility.

Jeremiah 17:9 - The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Mark 7:21 - For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

@AlphDoti - I like.Very insightful and challenging.

God is graceful! His elegance is unfathomable.

Fear and desires always pull me to sin.But this consoles me even when I sin.
Luke 12:34 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

If God and his goodness remain my treasure,my heart will be there and my mind and body will follow the desires of my heart.

Romans 12:2 - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Uncertainty is certain.Let go

It is said that David was a Man after God's essence. That is there's Man's heart and God's heart.

Perfection is when the two are one. And a common factor is the Mind.

The relationship of David and God is always fascinates me.I also note that David was a musician,a warrior,a king and a shepherd. I think the perfection state is the birth place of salvation and the mind is what you have at your disposal to steer yourself into that direction.
