No. Donations to the Government, Ambulances, Fire Engines and Construction and specialised Equipment still allowed. For Personal cars, huwesmake.

I have seen top of the range LHD vehicles with license plates beginning with CE or SSC.Just thinking,if you really need LHD,is it possible to import through such countries and register there and then use the car in Kenya?

You will endanger your life and that of other road users without any apparent gain.
Just go for the RHS and be happy while safe.

those CE plates are from south sudan where they keep right thus use LHD cars.
They are only here temporarily and cannot be changed to kenyan plates..

why the urge to use LHDs?

Maybe he found a nice deal for a GMC or Chevy truck.On the other hand,I have seen cars with foreign registration eg TZ and UG in Kenya.I hear you can use them in Kenya forever so long as you drive them to the country they were registered once in 6 months and reenter Kenya but if you are crafty,there is a way you can register them beating the 8 year rule.

Mavinder-you seem to know the panya routes. Can we chat in camera? I've noticed that a particular country (sisemi juu ya mawatu wa KRA) has well priced LHD cars...

The 'crafty' panya routes do not involve LHD cars.... Or do they? It's RHD cars supposedly 'destined' for UG, TZ or Sudan.... KRA is SO aware ... and its only a matter of time before they begin to catch up with some of the already registered cars.

There's also a few other methods in use.

Why would you want a LHD?
How does one overtake e.g on a non dual carriage road?You are simply endangering your life & that of other road users.
Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.

@wa-ithaka, I wish I could...

It is probably easier to side-step Interpol and bring in a stolen car than attempt to outsmart KRA and register a LHD.
