this did not come as a suprise.....when you destroy nature....that is the punishment you get....Why is the crisis not in Uganda ...Tanzania yet they are our neighbours ?.....

The poor of this country are in deep problem .......

Mau settlers should be evicted immediately ....more dams need to be constructed in hunger affected areas so that when the rains come we do not start crying that there are floods all over.....wake up kenyans.....

Cabinets meets tomorrow to discuss the food situation in the country. The had to wait for a whole Secretary of Agriculture from the US to come and tell them that things are thick for them to react.

Kenyans have never seen a crisis of this magnitude. I was at the foot of the Mau last weekend and what I saw in terms of the crop failure was very scary. The residents there have to buy water to give to their animals to keep them alive. Water is expensive. Crime is on the increase in the rural area. Breakins in search of food and other consummables has become common place. People are harvesting food to steal from other people's shambas. Apparently the area is an arid region. I do not want to imagine what is happening in the arid and semi arid regions. When I saw this,I asked whether our politicians are serious?

I was suprised that in some places in Mwingi and Kitui districts, grass on grass thatched houses is being stolen at night by people to keep their cattle alive. This is no laughing matter.Things are really tough.

The baboons from Karura forest have invaded our offices in search of food. They have become very bold. Our accountant who also hawks vegetables had bananas meant for sale removed from his car by the same animals. The scenario remind me of the movie 'In the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro' shot here and directed by Sharad Rao.

@ Chaka

You've cracked me with that line. Trust SKerians with humurous snide remarks.

I wonder how Baba Jimmy will rule a Nation that is hunger stricken,no water and no power.

Its only a matter of time before a spark ignites a mighty flame !

I pity us Kenyans,we have really suffered from a poor crop of leaders.

While leaders have contributed to the declining provision of necessities, kenyans we are also to blame because we should have changed our way of doing things along time ago e.g planting maize season after season in that piece of land has made things worse...

we should have combined efforts to help this country... this is a country with so many resources and so many development opportunities but this idea of waiting for serikali to do everyhting is what is putting us behind. Mark you these leaders only feed themselves wherever they are, they dont want anything to do with our development why cant we take things into our own hands and make it?
