Will Kenya's Election Be Peaceful?

That is the question at the forefront of many foreign investors' minds today.

I'll answer you as if I was a foreign investor. If we have peaceful elections and the market continues to rally(a rally supported by foreigners),when the masses come for a piece of the cake they shall reap handsome profits as they exit.

If we don't have peaceful elections,they will be affected but they will have a substantial amount of Kenya's assets in their hands and will get more opportunities to grab assets at a cheaper price.

I was asked if the elections will be peaceful yesterday by BBC journalists who were interviewing me on how the construction industry views the elections. I told them that the kibunjia commission has reigned in on rogue politicians who preach hate speech . This means the tribal animosity this time round will be non existent. The BBC crew insisted that the hate speech is less because of the ICC. I reminded them that i personally view the ICC as a leser court than Kibera law court in terms of dispensation of justice. THey were not very happy to see a Uhuruto supporter who is part of the construction industry in Kenya. I will post the audio here once they publish it.

I expect it will be largely peaceful. Everyone's overprepared (groceries, petrol, etc) and vigilant, which is a good thing as it deters criminal types. There's an overwhelming focus on peace and maturity from all the candidates, companies, individuals, etc. Even macro indicators are going in the opposite direction....no large share selloff / no rapid deterioration of KES, etc. Just my opinion
