i kind of tend to disagree on the dividend part keeping in mind its peer, KCB, will be more generous. To me, a 1st tier bank should be retaining less compared to lower rank banks that desparately want to grow! Receive with simplicity everything that happens to you.” ― Rashi

Equity wants to grow. There's EAC & more... There's Africa to conquer! Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

KCB has always been doing 50pc cant agree more @youcan'tstopusnow. the results are above expectations and the dividend payout made is a balance of retaining earnings for future growth Vs appeasing shareholders. I even notice that the dividend payout this year compares well with the one just delivered by KCB (Equity Bank - 42% Vs KCB - 46%)

*applause* During the year, Equity Bank opened 22 new branches, set up operations in Rwanda and invested in its information technology infrastructure. The costs for these initiatives drove operating costs in FY12. Despite this, the bank was able to record an improvement in cost to income ratio from 50.1% to 48.8%

#Noted, Equity Bank Loan loss provision declined 1.3% y/y on higher lending to SMEs: The Banks loan loss provision fell as a result of decreased lending to the micro sector (NPL ratio of 8.4%) and increased lending to Small and Medium sized enterprises (NPL ratio of 1.8%). Overall NPL ratio stood at 3.2%. The bank believes that it could continue to see an improvement in NPLs as it grows its SME loan book (currently 45.5% of the total loan book)

Sobering mobile money report for the banks that really on the small saver - http://www.businessdaily.../-/3nw8mjz/-/index.html
Potential threat for banks that target the same clients who now prefer saving on the mobile money accounts. Such bankers had better partner with mobile money operators. $15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

This is it, this is the big thing! Equity has paid dividends immediately after the AGM and 2weeks ahead of the stated date. History will not remember you for your IQ. It will remember you for what you did. “Genius is 1 percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration.” Thomas Edison

Equity is a great success story. I will invest in it in my next entry cycle. Life is short. Live passionately.
