One major issue that Europe can't deal with for a few years is demographics and the economy heavily relies on it. Declining population caused by a mostly older population and declining birth rates coupled with high unemployment among the youth.

@ChessMaster, there is one more trend amongst Western Nations that is sending capital scurrying underground and overseas, that is the hunt for taxes to pay the bondholders. The rich have been the first targets of the Marxists, the middle class will be next.

@hisah and all - How are things in the global markets. Equities, currencies, interest rates,defaults,gold/silver...Highly appreciated.Have been following the posts but haven't been tracking the global scene this year.

Summary - currency wars aka competitive currency devaluation is picking up. Money printing (quantitative easing - QE) tsunami is at a record, mostly 0 - 1% CB funding rates to support record high QEs, gold/silver market getting hammered despite all the above! Manipulation at its best. Despite the gold/silver market manipulation, post GFC those two metals have outperformed global markets by far! Despite the money printing spree deflation is still in play as people refuse to spend and pay up debt. Govts vs civil discontent escalating with political heads rolling as civil pressure becomes hard to contain.

This site has a good recap - http://www.creditwritedowns.com

You've covered everything.I even forgot debt. Let me learn more from the site.Thank you. You've got very insightful sites and opinions.

Ah,tax. The first one is just crazy and mean. Why would you tax someone retroactively. Now I understand why Facebook's cofounder opted out of his citizenship. This is also a trend in the E.U.They are bleeding wealth when they need it the most.

The European Commission financial transaction tax will meet resistance.Plus I can only imagine the impact it will have on the so many struggling citizens.

I don't mind taxes.I don't mind taxing the rich. But at some point they should start focusing on creating wealth and opportunities and not continue to stifle the economies. They are just promoting tax evasion.I agree, they'll be coming for the middle class next and unlike the rich, they can't easily escapeSad

Definitely inventory since it's a treasured asset worth more than paper money. So how would one call such an investor, a weed trader?

The audacity of dope - http://www.economist.com...ec/the_audacity_of_dope

Quote:
BRENDAN KENNEDY received an engineering degree, started a software firm and sold its assets to Boeing, studied for a Yale MBA and then joined a Silicon Valley bank reviewing new-business proposals. His latest venture takes a sharp turn off the beaten path. Mr Kennedy has become an investor in the marijuana business.

The business case for funding the cannabis industry rests on two things. The first is its scale. Many of the novel ideas Mr Kennedy appraised during his job in Silicon Valley, from electric cars (Fisker and Tesla) to daily coupons (Groupon), had potentially large markets. Marijuana is already an established business. After six months of research and interviews with growers, dispensaries, trade publications and political organisations, Mr Kennedy believes the American market to be worth $50 billion.

The second is that despite its heft, the cannabis industry operates like, well, a grass-roots movement. The drug’s legal status is messy: although medical marijuana is legal in 18 states and in the District of Columbia, cannabis is illegal elsewhere in America. For social reasons, too, the industry is unfinanceable through normal channels. People in the business lack expertise in everything from branding to staffing.

Interesting how people equate marijuana with a rolled joint!Sad Hemp is actually very nutritious. Some even argue that its illegalization was a devious pharmaceutical affair. They'd much rather sell you expensive cancer drugs than have you eat a few super-food seeds. Google hemp and its benefits, you'll be astounded. Its even sold in our Healthy U outlets. I'll tell you without doubt, I plan to grow this herb. Mr Kennedy will make a name and a killing. About time someone did the same huku nyumbani!
