In many (functioning) democracies,holidays named after presidents come about AFTER the chap has died... In Kenya,we have kenyatta day & moi day... pure sycophancy...

And IMHO neither kamau nor danny boy deserve the 'holidays'... both were crooks... and promoted tribalism & enrichment of their own pockets (+families + cronies)...

What happened to honoring the real shujaas?

In the Bomas draft such hols were done away with. Instead Kenyatta day was renamed Heroes or Mashujaa day in order to stop idolising an individual

While attempts are made to convinve Kenyans that Kenyatta day is heroes day,I always wonder why flowers are laid on only one grave considering that this celebrations are held country wide.Government officilals in the district including Ministers can also lead the district at honouring heroes from those areas.
