so,that means, this thing was really in effect for just abt 10 days - time enough to make people believe it works...I think this is a serious consumer rights issue - SCOM may fall back on the fact that prepaid customers are not bound to them by any contract, ergo, they are no obligated to offer certain rates at certain times - indeed I recall in its early days, when there was a MAJOR outage, abt 35-50 subscribers attempted to sue them but it went belly up owing to their prepaid status.

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

@djinn - Did you know that 50% of the price of petrol (retail) are taxes, levies & government charges?
*** And that excludes the fuel KPC 'loses' like in the KPC-Triton scam. No-one has been convicted...

@VVS - I had an inkling after some recent talks on fuel prices. Still,we should not take it lying down.

.......my phone cell broadcast and *155# are all indicating a rate 8 bob as I type this post.

If the pricing is based on traffic as Safcon preaches, does this mean that the nearest base station is jammed with calls at 22.58? I highly doubt it.

This tariff is a hoax.

It is 3am and my cell broadcast is showing 80cts and have been able to call for that amount. And it works...

@chris79 - hmmm....at that hour you must be competing for base station bandwidth with a few burglars smile is it possible to share details of a more 'normal' hour. I guess at 3am they could even allow free calls since 95% of the network is asleep.

@djinn,from your previous posts you've never bothered to hide your distaste for Safaricom and I believe that was the reason you posted this topic; to get as many people as possible to post anti-safcom messages. You must be really enjoying yourself now. However by your latest post you've just confirmed that supa ongea works, since I'm sharing the BTS with 'a few burglars' I'm able to call at 80cts which is the whole point of this tariff; the lower the traffic, the lower the rates. I agree with you that's its ridiculous to have to wait until 3am to be able to call at 80cts but what else do you expect given that i live in eastlands where people never sleep. As long as I know i'm not charged anything above 8 bob I'm cool with that. I travelled once to Kisumu and was able to call for 3 bob during the daytime. And no,I don't work for Safaricom...

@djinn - If 50% of the price is NOT in your hands... what do you do?
** The GoK taxes are much higher than any margins the oil marketers make. The OMs buy the crude, pay (higher than market) prices to process, lose 'crude' through inefficient KPRL,lose high value white oils (petrol) & get black oils (fuel oil) coz of old (skimming) technology used at KPRL,use an inefficient KPC (loading can take days for tankers),pay upfront duties (interest costs),delayed refunds (interest costs),etc
*** I got tired of typing... but how do you blame OMs when the GoK 'silently' is the cause of most of the fixed costs in every litre of petrol?
**** Of course,we need to fuel kibaki's & RAOs & ka-loser's motorcades...
