....OK if its manual,it need not be a very recent car (i.e. the less hijackable, the better) but in good running condition - needed for a short duration (3 or 4 days) and short distances (abt 30 km per day)....anyone? rates pd? Those I know on SK,can you vouch for anyone?

Shikks, why don't you propose for the four days? I promise I'll not divide by 4 days and apply the result 2 days smile

@joni - about four days starting from evening of August Sun 2,Mon 3,Tue 4,Wed 5 (return it Thursday afternoon) - so abt four days. What rate can you extend?

@Leona - thanks - I'll drop a line - I'm grounding mine to allow for bodywork/painting over the weekend and during the week. @Carygoh - Prado? hmmm - a bit excessive for my needs....

Make sure you hire the car from a well established hire company with an office where you can actually sit down and transact biz. Also make sure the company has been there for some time, maybe minimum 1 year? A lot of car hire people who put Ads in papers at low enticing prices opertate from street corners without any office. Yes their rates are great but if the offer is too good, think twice. Some of the cars could be stolen and if you get in trouble, the person from the street corner will just disappear without trace. Actually if the car is stolen, you can even be executed by the flying squad! Also make sure you have a well printed contract and you know what you are signing. Also negotiate for your price although many hires charge according to the state of the car and weekends can be a bit expensive. I would say according to what you wrote,2500/- per day is fine with a normal 110 or platz in good shape or any 'good saloon car'....

thanx.

@Jossie - prefer manual - KBD? Pls see above post. One of my prerequisites is to avoid occupying the boot smile Also 2500 pd is out of my budget.

Djnn, you need to be realistic the current trend is that many clients look at the number plate so the newer the car the more expensive however for an automatic ka.....whatever you can get below 2500 but lowest it can get is 2k .If u are taking the car for about 3 weeks you can get a car for 2k with your specifications

I wonder again about literacy levels here - above I wrote '(i.e. the less hijackable, the better)'. KBD sounds like a hijackable, and since we are talking for hire, its very likely a a Japanese car,and unless this KBD is a Combine Harvester or a Tuk Tuk,it qualifies as 'hijackable' or subject to some form of theft which is what I'd like to avoid since in my neighbourhood there is at least one car jacking every 3 days.

So @Mchuuzi - unlike the rest of the fish in the stream,I do not go with the current trend - if you get me a running KZZ or even a KAJ or a KAE,etc - I am happy if the rate is right...i just need to put my old bomber on rocks for a few days while work is done on it.

@JDS - VW sounds good (and I assume its a Golf)) - what rate? You will note from the posts below my needs are very basic so please frame a suitable response - I have a bulk figure in mind for the 4 days - which might seem low but not for a KAD European car.
