I have always suspected that,at any given time when contentious political issues arise,somehow the government and politicians find a way to avert attention from them. The more recent is the Ringera issue. They know it will trigger controversy and even with diplomats. So there is a lot of talk about Ringera,etc etc.....meanwhile the real ISSUE whose due date is about to expire....and on which SERIOUS actions are needed...and on which a KEY political figure's future could be decided...gradually slip to page three.....MAU. What is more important to us as a nation? We've seen this happening with various issues over time and gradually these stories recede into oblivion - Low priced maize,exported maize scandal,Triton,etc.... @Djinn and the most surprising thing is that the media always 'falls' for it. Remember the fake bomb at ambassador and the rattling issue too? they never 'learn' when to stop and turn back after being guided into the bush by these politicians... ama how many brown envelops exchange hands for it??? Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

@Wendz - actually the media are the most guilty for allowing this (of course anything sensational will sell and make them millions) - still they could pile on pressure and stick with the key issues - it is why they are called the fourth estate. I doubt if they ever have a diary of 'unresolved issues'...at any given time there is so much controvery (and some of it relating to government spending) - so much on the conveyor belt....VP's house costs trebled.....police tender quadrupled....etc etc....its such a roller coaster - we know there are problems but never get to know how and if they are solved. if we could itemise and prioritise a list,maybe we could make headway with this.... I am also very doubtful of the US Govt intentions in the whole affair - to them Saudi Arabia is a democracy because it has oil and a foothold in the ME.
