1.)Banking:- Banks are the best money making machines I know. People will always make money, where do you think they will store it? People will always need loans, where will they get them from? Banks tend to have a very large asset base over time e.g KCB GROUP 4 billion dollars...infact if I was a millionaire,I would identify a small bank with huge growth potential and invest a lot of cash in it. Doesnt it amaze you that some tiny banks like diamond trust or cfc stanbic with very few branches make billions. Banks are my best bet. Period.
2.)Manufacturing:- This industry is still very young in Kenya but sooner or later,people will realise that it is not worth importing some products we can produce locally. Manufacturing is also a place to be in the next 10 years. A company like B.O.C which manufactures medical equipment and gasses for example might be very profitable in the next 10 years.
3.)Energy:- Energy is a utility. It is as simple as that.
Disclaimer:- The bottom line is how much you pay for the investment. Don't overpay.
(my two cents)
A successful man is not he who gets the best, it is he who makes the best from what he gets.

@techboy - I like that.

Energy,Manufacturing,Telecommunications and Construction will reign.This is Africa. Financials a few will flourish.There will be many M&As or many destroyed,eventually money consolidates.
Uncertainty is certain.Let go

I think KPLC is too dependent on Kengen and if that's the case Kengen has more bargaining power.But both will grow,problem is which one is more profitable long-term?

problem with KPLC is that with alternative energy coming up(...they are talking of Wind and even Solar) there will be enaf competition to it. I think if allowed companies that have the capital to start production of alternative energy can make a kill in this country problem can the government allow such kind of a monopoly?

I think the clean energy initiative will form part of IPPs (Indepedent powers producers) who will sell directly to the distributor i.e. KPLC..

Actually the increase in no. of IPPs is good for KPLC...
More monies, more problems...
