Blame it on our education system. Ati Ludwin Kraph discovered Mt.Kenya. Nkt
Btw,poverty is all in the mind. Our education system should start with the mind.

Necessity is the mother of all........!! smile

I disagree.Case in point,Africa.We have droughts,poverty,disease,politics...we're needy and I can't see any innovation or inventions changing that.

@Chessmaster
And using your case in point; the countries in Africa with the harshest weather & conditions ie southern and northern Africa are still the most developed on the continent!

Aren't the managers of the affairs of those countries predominantly non-black?

First is the leaders we have on the table...after independence, first they amassed wealth to themselves, signed contracts that they didnt understand eg mines belonging to some West based company and cant get out of that contract, then as new leaders came in Walifuata nyayo...didn't do anything to develop their country(or even try to get out of those old contracts), they didnt much care about educating the citizens(just in case they got more clever and chose better leaders). I believe education will be a key to wealth and development in the region. Growth of SME should be the Key to African moving up, (forget those big companies now that's why they are re-branding a lot to try to take new markets which they had earlier ignored). On education, I still believe that Technical schools are important in as much as they are turning them all to Universities, we need well trained Technical Engineers. Financing of SME's is important, giving them affordable loans will help us grow. Most of all we have the responsibility to choose good leader, but here we vote based on tribe, and protecting 'our people', not on what they can do for us and for our future.
You cant win, unless you first begin....

No.We just value different things.

@tycho - One is a race the other is a place you're born.

Black is a race, and Africa is where one is born?

And what then is the West?

African is anyone who is a citizen of any African state.They could be of any skin color.

"Black" is the non-Caucasian/Asian/Arab human race. Predominantly found in Africa with some relatives in the Oceanic region.

@Chessmaster, What values those things differently?
Ain't it the mind?
So the poverty,diseases,tribalism,civil wars,hunger etc we have around is all due to superb intellect?
