......the SK family knows that I deal in human brains.....one time I was approached by KQ to supply brains worth sh525k....my net profit in the deal was about sh475k (this is standard in the business of human brains)...some one at KQ asked that I inflate the price by 20% for her cut...I said NO..and the deal was canceled...I moved on and sold the brains to a company in Uganda....made slightly less profit due to air tickets and all but life goes on.....

@Mukiha,

The first seven months was good coz from the car hire business (his brothers company),he was getting 45k a month.The payslip was 40k net from the employer and the bank was deducting 28k more than what should have been deducted based on the bank rules.
The 8th month,the car got an accident and you know insurances and how they work.....delays.The guy had no income with only 12k left after bank loan.He has a family and so on.

Disclaimer : This is my opinion and not a recommendation.

Pauloti,if the deal was sweat would you have informed us about it? The fact that you have a family to feed at the end of the day does not justify corruption. For your business to survive,innovations will do more than corrupt government tenders. You can however make a lot of money from these tenders; you need to know the system proper. Get only a few people to be following your payments and such matters and oil their hands well. You will recoup the money from the inflated tenders. This will continue as long as corruption thrives in the system and your conscience allows but you will have no moral authority to condemn any corruption.

@ kabugua,mukiha et al: i accept that i am in the wrong by abetting corruption,and it bited my conscionse that i am doing it. but if i had a choice i would not do it. but what you fail to realise is that its a viscious circle out there. being principled and morally right,is not going to feed my children. with the economy it is now days,the biggest spender is the government. retail business is virtually non existent. so everyone is focusing on government orders especially after the cdf allocations in the budget. so if i do not pay my way to get work,then i will not work. as u mentioned corruption is everywhere including our churches,so why should lose out? atleast i bribed,supplied and lost out. there are others who do not even supply anything and get full payment because they are related to so and so!

@pauloti;

Please don't justify the wrongs you did. Accept them and resolve to change!!!

The notion that retail business is non-existent is a fallacy!!! Look at the biggest businesses in Kenya...SAFCOM,EABL,Bidco,etc: They don't make most of their money from GoK!! In fact,if the GoK stopped buying from them,they would not feel anything.

Don't give bribes because everybodyelse is giving. Only give bribes after deciding that you want to be crooked.

But if you want to be upright,then don't bother bidding for GoK tenders....a day will come and GoK officers will come to plead with you bid because you will be the only person not black-listed!!!!!

In the meantime,revise your personal expiditure budget and live within your means.

A day will surely come when everyone in constituency / district will say 'There walks pauloti,the man who refused to give bribes to the CDF committee'. That will be worth more than billions of shillings in the bank!!

Good people

@mukiha,thank you for the comments

@pauloti,why do you think that supplying GOK is the only way you can 'survive'?
