Utakufa haraka!! 40km in 20min means you were averaging 120km/h. In other words, there were places you were doing 180km/h and others 80km/h. My experience is that it takes a matatu one hour from Tusker [Nairobi] to the Total (Jogoo) bus stop in Thika town. @chiaroscuro. Is driving fast tantamount to dying early? I have seen slow drivers trying commit suicide on our highways changing lanes like they are on a wheat farm.Better be fast than reckless. Stop hating on fast drivers. Just to quench my curiosity, what's your ideal highway speed?

The bottleneck is at Muthaiga where the service road from Kiambu and the one from Thika meet.these two service roads are four lanes and are forced to feed onto a two lane road. Design problem I believe.

Traffic jam starts from Allsops GSU the problem i believe is people have moved from other estates and moved to Areas adjacent the Highway evident as rent has also gone up.Solution is Railway line and expansion of other roads especially outering, Mombasa Road and Langata..So that people can stay where they are. It's easy for investors to get emotional and prejudiced when trading, but computers don't

If it is this bad with the expansion, how much worse would it have been without it? Uncertainty is certain.Let go

The expansion eased traffic on Thika Road, suddenly making that side of town attractive for residence. Hordes of people moved across, easing congestion in other parts of Nairobi, lowering rents even (or ensuring they held as opposed to the steady march upwards previously - where I live there are 5 vacant apartments with no eager takers). This is what many pundits are unable to see. A few expansions like these on all major arteries into and from Nairobi and things will be swell, but it will take time, planning and money

Bottleneck is at Pangani.
The entry from the service lane into the highway should not be there. Now we have 5 lanes moving into 3 lanes, what do you expect.. major traffic issue.
In my opinion: 1. the guys from Kiambu road going to town and forest road should use the underpass at the utalii area, then join the highway at some point. 2. Current entry to the highway should be made into an exit so that guys from thika road can go to pangani/kariokor. 3. Current exit/entry from highway to/from park road should be made into an entry only.. Build an exit point some 100m away from that junction so that guys can use Desai road instead of park road.

I am a user of this road and I tel you that the kidogo jama we are experiencing at the moment cannot remotely compare to pre China Thika road. Of course the last few days have been crazy expecially when they were doing the foot bridge at Pangani. When I admire the wonder of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in worship of the Creator.

Those who use thika road should never complain. You should try Mombasa Road jam stretches all the way to Mlolongo Lang'ata road is even worse. Be grateful what you are experiencing is normal!

Every year, we get hundreds of graduates into the job market. In 2 years time, maybe 20% of them can afford to buy a car through bank and employer credit facilities. This not factoring in those from the informal sector who havent gone through lengthy years in school. We need to make public transport more attractive.
