@coolio look at it this way i have 20m in hard currency that would get me just a kawa hse in most areas...take tht mulla sink it in a long dated bond 15-30yrs paying 12% coupon per yr tht would gv 2.4m per year around 200k a month do you know what kind of hse id rent with that kind of money...not everybody would want to buy a house in the end...

i have always given similar advice to people

Despite the price, the TV is only special because of the fact that it supports 4k - which is twice the resolution of 1080p aka 2k, 4k being 2160p (2160 vertical pixel lines).

Learn the difference between p - progressive and i - interlace.

For pixel maniacs, the larger the screen, the more pixels will be required to ensure that the images stay sharp.

The problem is that there are only a handful of 4k media / content, so getting the TV now is premature. Getting the TV will mean that in order for you to enjoy what it has to deliver, your would have to go out and look for 4k content in places such as:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=4k

Another problem with 4k content is that the content is processor intensive. I doubt that most of your computers are able to play 4k videos smoothly, because you'd need:

An NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or an AMD Radeon HD 7970 - These are 4k graphics cards, that need to be in a computer with a fast CPU, pref an i7 processor, and lot's of fast RAM, alternatively, you will have to get a 4k player, such as a RedRay player:

Without the gear, you would not be able to watch the scavenged 4k content, so getting the TV would mean that at best, you can watch HD content (via the few HD channels that are available in dstv, or the media that your can get from the net or BlueRay disks).

Note that dstv does not support 1080p, they only support 720p & 1080i.

So why get a 2160p TV, when even 1080p content is lacking?

- 8k exists, it is 4320p and is known as Super Hi-Vision - Sharp has an 8k TV: http://www.pcmag.com/art...2/0,2817,2413918,00.asp

- Japan plans to broadcast 4k in July 2014 - With the World Cup: http://www.techradar.com...d-cup-broadcast-1127987

- Japan plans to breadcast 8k in 2016:
http://news.idg.no/cw/ar...9-1281-C6D078BFF5CE03A8

- Japan Successfully Broadcasts an 8K Signal Over the Air:
http://gizmodo.com/59111...-upgrade-your-tvs-again

- The next Play Station - The PS4, will be 4k - http://bgr.com/2012/08/2...tation-4-4k-resolution/

CCK should make 4k & 8k broadcasting part of vision 2030 - This would mean that if we are to have on-demand 4k or 8k TV, we'd need to have true broadband at home smile because 8k requires a LOT of bandwidth (Our broadcasters would need to up their game, and obviously the price of the TV's and the data pipe will need to be much cheaper - It probably will, because technology is always most expensive when it comes out).
