Waking up to very disturbing news. My friend and colleague lives in Langata. They usually park their cars outside the apartments coz there r no available or enough parkings inside the apartments. Now there was an attempt to steal his car. Fortunately, they did not succeed coz the watchman raised some alarm. However, they have already chomoad the number plates. He has reported the issue at the police station but there r a few issues arising:
1. What is the way forward? How easy/hard is it to get new number plates?
2. Police have said that he will be given an abstract to drive the car bill number plates. Really?
3. What if the thugs used the number plates to commit crime somewhere else n thus his car becomes 'wanted'? What if he is driving along the road and all of a sudden his car is sprayed with bullets by the flying squad?
4. What is the best advice at this point?

Please assist if you can. Thanks.

The best option is not to use the car for few months regardless he get the number plate or not. Another option is sell it. Better late than never

Pole Kwake. He should not use the car till he gets new number plates.
A few years back in Langata residents would leave their cars with Masaai watchmen to wash. The Masaai’s as usual behaved as naïve as ever. One Monday morning guys woke up and the parking was empty. Duplicate key had been made and 12 vehicles stolen.

Best thing is not to use the car till he gets new number plate however long it takes.
