the bill at a glance,
* wife n husband own property 50/50
* gold diggers and second wives will get nothing from the property they found
* rich wives to support their poor husbands and vice versa
* polygamy is fine and legal, but but you have to have inform your bride of the intentions

these laws will be passed hastily-by govt mandarins- to protect the wives of the rich and famous from their many mistresses. you know that snobs are uniting to fight back. i wonder what prezzo who has 'only one dear wife' thinks of these laws?

The proposed law as it is is still weak.

1. Lets say,how will they handle a case where these unions existed before the bill was enacted or does it provide for that? Say,for those who have more than one wife and they never asked for the 1st wife's consent?

2. If i read correctly,it says the gold diggers/2nd wives are not entitled to property that they 'found' - my understanding is,if property is acquired while they are in this union, they will be entitled for a share of it. Now,are they entitled to what the 1st wife will acquire (and knowing how loving we women can be,writes it on husbands name) or just what the husband acquires? And what happens when there is a second wife - the own property 33.333/33.3333/33.3333.................?

3. On rich women/men supporting their poor husbands/wives,i have no problem with that (in a divorce men are always required to pay up for wife support) if they put in fine prints 'as long as he/she remains single'..... hehehehehe.. not sure it will go down well if you get to educate the kids in his other marriage in the name of support... and at this time, who is with the kids? him or the wife? someone define 'rich' and 'poor' and the parameters used.... coz on the same minute,i can be 'very rich' in a street boy's eyes and 'very poor' in Njenga Karume's eyes.

Any errors of ommission, commission, misinterpretation, typos regreted and i sit to be collected!

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Those family bills fails to protect children born out of wedlock.Men should be held responsible to contribute for the up-keep and school fees for their out of wed babies until the kids reach 18 years. What do u guys think?

@ Ali Baba,

I am with you on this one. Far too many men are running away from their responsibility. They bring children to this world and expect society to take care of them. There was some effort to legislate the issue (I think affiliation bill) but I dont know what came of it.

IGANAMAGANA....we,men are animals at times.I think its time we were forced to pay for the up-keep/school fees for our out-of-wed babies.

my two cents. . . .

mpigs will armtwist the bill to suit their lush lust for women,in that they will have a law backing to officiate the relationship with several mistress hounding around them

men at times are forced to abandon kids outside wedlock since the society advocates purely monogamy. introduction of polygamy will enable most of these responsible men take full care of these kids, and their mothers. my views

Btw,I found out in the legal Marriage is about you two or three...etc spouses. when it comes to children it is completely another ball game Maintenance, succession, all kids share equally or as described in the will....

@ Wendz. The 2nd and subsequent spouse have no claim on what the couple before had. b4 divorce .......I supose on polygamy I supose the pie is hence forth divisible by the # spouses.....i wonder what would happen when one of the wives want a divorce ...imagine what the divorce courtwould be like ....a circus!

so i wonder ... in a polygamous marriage will there be separate marriage certificates?
