The real-estate investment trust,REITs are companies that manage portfolios of property investments, earning money from rent and other fees and paying out much of their annual income in the form of dividends to stockholders.

Annual dividends
REITs have other charms as well. For individual investors who want to put money into real estate,REITs offer perhaps the most accessible path without any of the expense and difficulty of buying properties directly.

I think what they are doing is to pave the way for such to trade. In Other Words making a platform. In my many years of plying this trade I am yet to come across a real REIT in Kenya.A more plausible query would be whether there is legislation in place providing for REITs in the country. I'd love to know.

@ mr. Tea,

cma and nse are spearheading this, infact they are at an advanced stage. leading players in the industry, notably knight frank are also enjoined in drafting the laws that will guide in this sector. knight frank has a succesful story in south africa and egypt on the same, and want to replicate it locally.

That's good news! It gives investor's some variety. I hope it wont be manipulated the way things have been done in the past.....(read uchumi) coz someone could just float a property on a bypass!
