10K 'profit' per acre is what i came up with after crunching the numbers in my calc... purely academic... how many months does the whole cycle take from the time you pay for the land to the time you are paid for the harvest?

@Wiztec,

How is your wheat doing so far?

Wiztec,I once visited Kenya Maltings in Molo and the word I got is that if its suitable for wheat,its also good for Barley. KML supports barley farmers and gives them all the inputs which they deduct on delivery. Is wheat a better option? Esp with a ready buyer like Kenya Maltings (i.e. EABL)? Also KML have put in place good technology to support farmers with issues like pests,weather information,etc such that they are as much stakeholders as the farmer himself.

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

Thanks @tito

My calculations show a net of Kshs 9,800.00 per acre. If turn around time is 4mths,does it mean you plant wheat immediately after 4mths?

I have travelled those sides and would wish to know some basic information and risk to farm it. @wiztec,pls send me mail.

@samsa

You do not plant after every 4 months,i.e. 3 times ayear. There are 2 seasons; the long rains and the short rains. Harvest is usually better during the long rains. I do not grow wheat in Narok but Timau. Will send you an email later
