These are the requirement, all prices are per acre

1) Land leasing 3200

Ploughing done at 1500

Harrowing 1200

Fertiliser 2000,this will be subsidized next season by GoK

Chemicals approx 3000

Other costs 2000

Harvesting 1500

NB Wheat is usual sold in the farm and so you do not need harvesting fee, this is always paid for at the harvesting time as millers always drive to the farms and buy them in the farm.

Fellows, its not as easy as has been illustrated below. i have been there and bro! utasweat. buts its worth the sweat. Find corrected figures below

These are the requirement, all prices are per acre

1) Land leasing 3200 (this year it was btwn 2700 and 3k. it matters where coz some areas get water logged and the harvest is poor esp lower part.)

Ploughing done at 1500(virgin land will cost you at least 2k. and with the diesel prices high9its usually 10-15 bob higher than nai),dont expect anything less than 2k)

Harrowing 1200(you do 2-3 harrows,each costing btwn 1200 and 1500)

Fertiliser 2000,this will be subsidized next season by GoK(too optimistic,i heard Ruto say DAP will be around 3k,this year most farmers used NPK at 3kper bag)

seeds go at 2500 per bag(per acre)

Chemicals approx 3000(depends on how much you have to spray for rust. some farmers hav had X5 sprays. this figure can go to5k. also you have to spray foliar)

Other costs 2000(you need a maasai to chunga your farm else somone will graze on your wheat. if you are in nai you need some kind of farm manager to alert you when the rust strike, otherwise you will loose everything. plus cost za kuvisit shanba.)

Harvesting 1500( you need not worry about this, most will harvest for you, provided uwalipe mafuta, halafu unawapatia pesa ukiuza)

returns vary between 10 and 18 bags,at best project using 12 bags. current price with cereals ni 2800,in the farm ni 2600.

d your maths!

NB Wheat is usual sold in the farm and so you do not need harvesting fee, this is always paid for at the harvesting time as millers always drive to the farms and buy them in the farm.

I have been doing wheat farming myself for the past 4 years in Narok,Next year i will be doing 300 acres,i had booked for 385 acres in june, however i have recently diversified my initial budget to other investments and thats why i have to dispose 85 acres,

I live in Nrb and have work commited,i have a farm Manager in Narok who is very relaible i pay him a fee of Kshs 100 per wheat bag after harvesting....

Well,This is a very rewarding project,if you have money to invest highly consder this one.. as for Masaai that one is done 3 months into harvesting and usually very little money as little as 1k per month shared. Land for wheat in Narok now is pretty expensive especially upper Narok where this land is Located.. My offer will stand at 3200 which infact is a quick sale,I will also give you farm manager for those who would wish to have one and do not stay in narok Like me.
