Every continent has produced Nobel (or equivalents) prize (in the sciences both physical, biological & economic) winners except Africa (or did I miss any?)
*___ America: too many to enumerate but in every field including Sanger,Friedman,Feynman,Edison (one my favorites),etc
**____ Asia: So many including Bose,Abdus Salam,Raman,Sen,etc
*** _____ Australia: For such a small country (population smaller than Kenya): Bragg,Florey,Burnett, etc
**** Europe: Where do I start? There is Tesla,Einstein,Curie, etc

****_______**** Are there any Africans in this list?

Read an article sometime back that said a lot of inventions in the 15th Century (slaves era) were discovered by Africans(if u are the one doing the work,u are likely to know how to do it easier, right?) but it is their masters who took all the credit......maybe that is still happening.....

Well,it might be so BUT I want more recent proof. Claiming the Egyptian pyramids is too old... I look at (more) current stuff or documented stuff. E.g. every continent builds designs cars from scratch expect Africa (well,African firms may assemble or build under license)
*___ America: Hummer,GM,Chevy,Ford
** ____ Asia: Toyota,Nissan,Tata
*** _____ Australia: Not sure!!! but they have less than 30mn people.
**** _____Europe: Rover,Mercedes,Porsche

***** ____ Africa? We have 1 billion people (or close). Yet mostly assemble cars. As is most cars in Kenya are not even assembled here. And I am not even talking of aircraft.

Oh,you are looking for the recent ones....well,the anti rape condoms made in SA (is this science?)...apparently,even the vuvuzela(that noisy thing)....hehehe....

i will beg to differ. some of the most brilliant minds in science are africans. there are many respected scientists in the hallowed (sp) halls of MIT,Cambridge,Oxford etc. it all depends on opportunity and funding. it is rare that you will find these scientists as grant holders in projects in which they work, yet in most instances they participate equally in (perhaps even much more - to prove their worth) interms of intellectual outputs of their projects, yet when there is a breakthrough, its only the project leader/grant holder who bags all the credit. the former (grant holder) is usually a politically adept (politics of science) senior scientist with lots of experience in raising funds and poaching the best talent who contributes very little if anything of the actual intellectual input. case in point: one of the developers of wireless mobile technology was an african as was one of the developers of the harrier jump jet for the US navy ...

Better to be at the cause of your experience rather than at the end of it. In all situations,be cause ...

Please provide NAMES not just 'oh,this African who collabo'd in MIT,etc'... ***____
And before you use the race card, look at the Asian luminaries who must have been so brilliant that they were awarded Nobels among other prizes even when they were under colonial control.

*** ____ *** I may be wrong but I think Science tends to reward brains over all else. Now,I am NOT saying all is fair but why are the Japanese,Chinese,Indians (& even Brazilians) getting so many accolades for new discoveries/research while we get NONE.
**** ___**** I met a malaria researcher who told me that most of the scientists are European/American... KEMRI is a just a hell-hole where davy 'fingers' koech kula's the pesa.

Lakini... do we have any scientists here in Kenya/Africa? BTW,apparently India & China faces the same problem. Many of them became US citizens because it is easier to be a researcher in USA than India/China.
*** Lakini the Indians & Chinese are doing something about it. They are building research institutions to keep the brains at home.

one of the earliest recorded c-sections was in Uganda in 1879.

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

We cant become scientists because we do not invest in reaseach. We are only good in pilating and copying what others have inveted.

I am a scientist myself and if i am funded and given support,I will make a major breakthrough but i stay quetly with my ideas untill i get a nice school out there and research properly and there after get brainwashed.

Africans are brilliant but they have to sell their ideas for survival.
