The bldg with Nakumatt Highridge - as you enter a small PS2 shop on your right...cost abt 12-14k. Getting ready for the Carnivore challenge,are you?

I'm not a gamer,couldn't know what to do with a console. But my sons are avid. I get their supplies/repairs at New Accra Hse - that glass building where Embakasi matatus are boarded. Ask at the entrance for the ps shop.

@Josephat...

I would think twice about Nintendo wii,my wife has it and all i see her doing is she has substituted the gym with it,has games for almost everything.

My take is PS3,awesome piece,can also run Blue-Ray discs.. one can also play with other guys online..Fifa 09..check out ric dees on the list of greats,you can converse with your opponent as well...

during a recent trip to nrb i found PS3 going for 32k at that sony shop in tusky's on langata/mbagathi rd... but the 2 sony shops on kimathi street did not have it... also for comparison,the price at dubai airport is around $400... one thing i cant recal was whther any of the PS3 were 80GB or more.

@Bigye:

I got one from the UK at £139 ( about Ksh. 16,800). Was shocked to find it going for Sh. 43,900 at Westgate,Westlands. You could order for one from Amazon or ebay at about half that amount. The games cost about £25 (Ksh. 3000). Its a good console with interactive games that people of all ages can play - my 8yr old son beat me and his grandfather in golf and fishing in a 3 player game. Instead of using the traditional gamepad with buttons,the wii uses the wiiremote which one moves just like while playing the real game. The wii uses interactive technology that the ps3 and xbox 360 are yet to develop. Anyone thinking about ps2 instead of the current generation consoles (i.e wii,ps3 and xbox 360) is like someone wanting to use MsDOS instead of Windows 7.

@ jaggernaut,

After buying it in the UK,or even Amazon,wouldn't one incur another say 20,000sh paying DHL to ship it here thus beating the whole rational?Or you shipped it in for free?Please share.

@Birdman,

I had travelled to the UK so just carried the item back home and didn't pay a single cent for shipping. I know amazon and ebay mostly use registered postal mail for sending packages in Europe,N. America (don't know how safe that would be for shipping to Kenya). The alternative would be for you to inform the seller to ship to Kenya using DHL or other couriers. Didn't know DHL could charge upto 20K for a 1.5kg package!

DHL? whats that? Waria 'DHLs' of eastleigh are a better bet

approx 450/- per kg..... plus adm/service charge of 4000/- per transaction - from London.

wii weighs roughly 2.5kg.

JKMwatha,

I have heard of those 'eastern edition DHLs',are they reliable especially with sensitive stuff like electronics,phones,camera etc?

Do you have contacts of any of them that you have dealt with?

@b_man ... reliable? YES (very) no damage or loss.

They deal with all sorts of electronics/valuables.

I use them almost every week..... to and from goods/money either way. They will even deposit money in your bank account in Nairobi or London. (Cheaper than money gram or western union) or any other freight company because their costs include any taxes.

contact http://www.kesomfreight.com/index.php

What they need is competion & their prices will drop dramatically.
