Lions hospital is very good.

Its in Loresho area.

Manual surgery goes for 45K and Computer based goes for 75k per eye.

I had a close relative who was almost blind go through the manual one on both eyes and today they can even see tomorrow!

If the person in need of it is outside nrb, they offer clinics where they do 100% free surgery and treatment inclusive of transport to nrb.

Doctors at KNH: Prof. Masinde, Dr. Kollmann, Dr. Karimurio, Dr. Gichuhi, Dr. Nyaga

Doctor at Upper Hill Medical Center: Dr. Kibata Githeko

Usually done as day care surgery (admission in the morning and discharge in the evening) or overnight stay. Costs would range from 0 (Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital, Loresho) to 50,000 (PCEA Kikuyu Hospital Eye Unit) to more than 250,000 (Nairobi Hospital). Average 80-150k. Doctors' (eye surgeon, anaesthetist) fees accounts for most of the cost. Costs do not include initial consultations, medications, eye tests and post-surgical consultations (add about 20,000 separately for these).

I recommend KNH. Private wing. Cheap. Top specialists. Nursing care?

Have you been seeing a particular eye doctor?

Other Wazuans will give more suggestions.

Thanx alot guys with your feedback. actually we have seen doctor Nyaga of Kenyatta and he put the fees at Kshs 80,000(cash Pay) and he is not doing it at Kenyatta hospital but somewhere in upper hill.
@jguru if i want to do it at Kenyatta private wing can i see them and recommend the same to my doctor? or he will refuse due to cost differential from what he told me?.

Dr. Nyaga prefers the theaters at UHMC. If 80000 covers theater and his fees, then it is a good deal. I've noted that most KNH doctors prefer to take their patients away from KNH. I think they receive better kickbacks from these private hospitals.

KNH has it's own internal inefficiencies and useless politics. But the specialists are A-OK.

Also get a quote from Kikuyu. Ask for Dr. Kibata. He's at UHMC and usually does eye surgery at Kikuyu.

Between Kikuyu and Lions, I'd pick Kikuyu.

Who's the Eye Surgeon or Ophthalmologist taking care of your mum at Loresho? Why is the booking at the end of the month? Long list of patients?

Forgot the name, I think Dr Shariff. We chose end month so as to raise cash and also bring mathe from shags.

By the way we tried Kikuyu before going to Lions. My bro says they waited for 2 hours on the queue without being attended to.

Yes, the queues at PCEA Kikuyu can be crazy at times. But Lions experiences the same high number of patients. It's wise to go the "private patient" way.
