If driving a car is someone's yardstick for success,then that person is the biggest loser.

total bollocks. I think one is a HUGE failure if you still stay in your parents house by the time you are 30 - now THAT is a failure. You could be 36 with a car and single while someone else is 32 with two kids and ready to send them to school,etc - HE is a greater success - as a person and financially. Am sure when we sit on Mombasa Road or Thika Road is traffic - our stupid cars are our worst undoing - just to be seen to have wheels - a big crock of s#it if you ask me....my two western sahara dinars.

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

@TB - seconded.

That is shallow thinking. Success is a very broad term. But I take it that you mean financial success.

Gauge your own success by benchmarking yourself against your own potential... stretch yourself to the limit of course...you will realize that you achieve much more than you would when comparing yourself with the Jones'. Set your own goals and work toward them. But for goodness sake don't buy your first car then start to seek membership at Muthaiga Golf Club!

And this is the kind of linear thinking that is leading young people today to take a loan and buy a Range Rover 4.6 then proceed to park it outside a rented furnished KES 60K apartment. Once the guy suddenly loses his job,he's flung all the way to Mbotela Estate from Kileleshwa (no offence to Mbotela residentssmile )

As our buddy @albertross puts it...thinking is free. so think.

Nonsense,

What is a car if the landlord knocks on your door every end month.

Think about it and hav common sense.

@Mwabili

No you are not a failure. Success depends on who you are coz even managing to feed your family daily is success in some areas,taking your kids to school in other areas is also regarded as success.

So measure your success according to your expectations not others.

Mwatwo-financial success should only be measured by how many liquid assets you own. And how much gain (reliased or unreliased),you've made since you acquired them.
