Basically these are technologies and innovations that change/destroy industries and our way of doing business. For example how computers destroyed typewriters. Now we have M-pesa and M-shwari in the financial industry.GPS is yet to be utilized in Kenya to its full extent but when a majority of phones have GPS it will change the distribution systems and security in Kenya. For example, an app that you can make orders and automatically takes your GPS location as the place to deliver. These are all in the beginning stages but will be common place in the future. What other technologies or innovations do you see defining our future?

All technology is disruptive, read Newton's law of inertia.

The other technology that is gaining ground is energics or energetics, which seeks to fuse the micro and macro worlds in a way that obeys the human will.

There's an ad ya Nissan Leaf concept that shows a lady charging her car driving all day and coming back home in the evening connects the mains to the car and lights up her home using the car's power. I'm just like Wow!

Thanks again people for contributing.Good things here.
@danny6 - I encountered Schumpter while researching on innovation.Sad story but it happens to people like him.Innovate or die though in Kenya competition doesn't seem to yield to innovation just price slashing.

@hisah - Solar windows will change everything. The aim is to transfer energy generation and distribution to the hands of the people.Buildings and houses generate energy and any excess is transferred to the grid through wireless technologies.

@mukiri - mobile technology will be everywhere.Internet of things is the phrase.

@tycho - energetics sounds very interesting.

@Money Whisperer - I'll check into the nissan leaf concept.Sounds interesting

@josiah33 - That blew me away.

-Resource management will be part of organizations e.g. energy consumption, water, pollution levels.
-Flexible touch surfaces(this I got here from wazua)
-Nanotechnology and Biotechnology are the foundations of this century and help solve many problems.
-Cloud computing will destroy a good percentage of the jobs in networking.
-Data scientists will be the new analysts.Big data - Statistics, programming and a broad knowledge base to decipher meaning from large sets of data.
-Video calling will be common place.
-3D and Virtual reality will be the entertainment route
-Augmented reality and advertising will merge seamlessly.
-Processors will be extremely cheap, small and fast.
-AI and Machine Learning will be embraced more to assist decision making and other automations.
-API boom - APIs for everything and anything will be the order of the day.

So far key areas of note - Energy,Transportation,Communication,Alternative Resources,Health.
Uncertainty is certain.Let go
