My picks are Tullow, Simba Telecom, Roko construction, Shoprite and Ruparelia. Any of these will beat recently listed Umeme hands down.

List any other potential UG IPOs that are in the pipeline.

MPesa is run by VODAFONE of UK.

MTN (Mobile Telephony Networks) is south african and a bitter rival of VODACOM (a subsidiary of VODAFONE).

MTN Rocks in UG. They run a version of our MPESA and they have the numbers.

There's more value in Simba telecom than MTN. Simba telecom has deals in EA that keeps its revenues running. How far can MTN grown in EA or Eastern Africa?

May be I should ask what else does Simba Telcom do apart from selling phones and airtime, because surely their money transfer will not beat the telcos.

MTN is in UG Rwanda Congo and TZ. And in Kenya they sell data

They may be good companies but pricing/valuations at the IPO do matter...I wonder what you will be saying if you are told to buy one of this companies at a PE of 35...so its useless to compare a listed company which did a successful IPO to a private company whose books one has never seen

You may not have realized that these are all subsidiaries of the parent MTN in south Africa!

This means if the Ugandan subsidiary has an IPO shareholders will only get to control the operations in Uganda!

The only way to access the other markets is for the parent firm to crosslist in Uganda..
