i would think its cheaper to use couriers like Salihia Cargo..they charge you a fixed rate per KG bought...they do pickup from anywhere and can really be trusted...a friend uses them and has no complaints at all..

You can also look for a dude called Morris in this forum (morey@justice.com). You buy stuff online and ship to his UK address. He then ships the package to you with duty, freight etc fully sorted. Last we communicated he was charging 35GBP handling fee and GBP 3.5per kg for airfreight (which he does weekly); and GBP 2 per kg or GBP12 per cubic feet via sea (monthly). I have used him before so I can vouch for him.

Hi Guys,

Has anyone ever bought anything on E-Bay and shipped to Kenya? Is this even possible. If yes, what are your experiences in getting the goods to Kenya, in terms of paying, doing the purchase and eventually arranging for shipping.

If u don't mind also, is the stuff on that bid-buy website always Legit.

Would appreciate your feedback.

How did it turn out?

Hi @holycow, I never did it. Just got some colleague to get me stuff from there anytime they come over.

Main reason, I could not get proper visibility on the charges I would incur locally, duty etc. Still willing to try in future.

I purchased a replacement screen for my phone a few weeks ago. It was shipped from Hong Kong and arrived within a week. I paid an extra $4.99 to get a tracking number, no other charges. Just ensure you buy from someone with good feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. So what delivery address did you use. Been trying to purchase a telescope but most suppliers don't ship to a P.O Box address. How did you manage that.

Mine was being sent by regular post so I just sent it to my work address but made sure to include the P.O. Box and Post Code e.g.

Wazua Investments
Wayaki Way
Westlands
40392-00606
Nairobi, Kenya

I received a card in the post box and collected it from the counter. This address format should also work for courier.

S0 $4.99 is all you paid?

Just made a purchase of about $120 from E-bay using the above address format. Seller is based in China, let me cross my fingers that the item gets delivered. Will update the Wazua republic on how it goes.

My cards have never even accepted. Aren't they locked by "Billing Address"?

Most stores (including E-Bay) will insist my card's Billing address is wrong. So I think i'm unfortunate on two accounts. Payment and Shipping.

Looking forward to hear how it goes...

I use KCB Prepaid Visa Cards. No problem with Billing address. For this particular purchase, i paid via Paypal which deducted the money from my KCB card. The seller has acknowledged receipt of payment, item will take about 30 days to ship.

The item arrived in Nairobi via EMS, collected it today. Well, now that eBay works from this part of the world, will continue shopping. Thanks to the Wazua spirit.
