A friend of mine parted with a 30k fine for having tint on his car window.....the other took to his heels after being apprehended for obstruction...his vehicle was towed to Nairobi area.
It is humiliating to be associated with thieves and murderers.

Tint has been made illegal? I knew reflective tint isnt allowed but didnt know the black sort was a problem. I have was also recently arrested for going the wrong way on some road, the cop didnt say anything about the tint.

Tint is 100% legal! The tint on my car is extra strong.. For someone to see what is inside, my window either has to be open or the door opened!

Despite this i haven't received so much as a bad look from a cop since December 1st!

@guru
Maybe the cop was not aware that its illegal, could someone please confirm which section of the law was used? Or maybe the first cop took advantage of the driver's ignorance.

I've seen cars with tint fixed at the factory and iam not sure this can be removed so what happens?

Soon you'll be arrested for having a radio in the car.

quoted a section of the law that in part stated 'the motor vehicle shall be constructed in a such a manner that the occupants are visible...' where are the lawyers?

was this quoted by the cop or in court by a judge, the cars for judges have tinted windows, hell even the presidential or prime ministerial motorcade is made up of cars with tinted windows.
all the gevernment passats I see on the road have tinted windows, even some of the police x-trails have the factory tint not to mention all the police top brass cars.

talk of double standards

Yeap. Plus this visible business is ambiguous. Visible from where, the windshield, sides, back or everywhere? How visible because even with tint in daylight you can see clear people outlines or do they want to be able to tell the colour of your shirt buttons?
Are ambulances in violation too? How about those security vans for G4S? Not being able to produce a DL is criminal??? So say you are travelling as two, you were not expecting to be driving so naturally you leave your DL in the house ..the other guy feels dizzy and is incapacitated ..you take over voila and you are already committing an offence. Isnt the AG supposed to advise parliament and smooth out anomalies in bills? How was such a rotten element of the bill allowed to remain?
