I think we have suffered too much that whatever little is thrown our way we over-celebrate and thank whoever it is that delivered with reverence of the Holy Pope which is very very wrong. It just shows how our national pride, dignity and self esteem has been desecrated by our leaders. Look, commuter rail is a much needed item in Nairobi and Mombasa but that Syokimau is a poorly executed project and reeks of corruption. Don't also mix issues the Mombasa Kampala railway is the priority and infact we ought to slow down every other project and allocated resources to this yesterday. One other thing, the syokimau train uses heavy industrial diesel which is also a pollutant..decent commuter trains use electricity from the mains...

The same "clean electricity" is being generated by burning some heavy diesel fuel someplace. Its a convoluted world my friend. Think Hydro, geothermal, wind...the world is not very convoluted it is we who make it by making bad choices or not making any at all. The thermal plants are meant to be temporary but they have a way of coming up before elections to provide funding- again bad choices..

But the syokimau train is under very good management if it stalls the management takes very little time to salvage the situation unlike the other routes where it can take hrs or even abandonment(passegers are forced to search for alternatives) until the following day. The New promotion is really increasing the number of people Using the train..I think it was a bright Idea....they might make the promotion permanent.I.e 100/= return. plus free parking! i wish i lived there If I park my car there for a whole week will they tell? If you parked your car at JKIA for a whole week would they tell? If you park you car at JKIA for a week, they don't ned to tell. You are the one who will tell when exiting the airport because of the amount of money you will be relieved of.

Kenya Railways has now partnered with Double M - Public Service Vehicle operators to provide rail connect services to your destination. The rail connect buses will deliver you to Syokimau railway station from Mlolongo area, Syokimau, Athi River JKIA, and Kitengela. You can then board the train to town. @money....moot point, mains electricity could be thermal, nuclear, hydro doesn't matter. Mains = Grid. Point I was making is they don't burn diesel or other fuel to generate power or electric energy.
Meanwhile, can someone update us on how the commuter rail is running! Unless the current route and fair are altered this train service will not last long!!

These are run with electricity generated from nuclear energy Not always, only a small percentage of worldwide electric trains use energy generated from Nuclear energy. For instance Venezuela use diesel powered thermal electric power plants to produce electricity for the national grid, the grid electricity which is used to run the country's electric trains. The last time I checked,Venezuela had no single nuclear power plant. The dirty engines you see pulling the Syokimau express are all electric trains, only that they are kind of self contained, producing their own electricity from huge diesel fired internal combustion engines, they dont draw electric power from the the grid. So for your information Kenya has electric trains. Portfolio: Sold You know you've made it when you get a parking space for your yatcht.
