...what specialization of MBA is popular regardless of the area of work? I have in mind an individual working in an insurance industry who has done Bcom (Insurance) plus ACII. Adding MBA insurance would be too much insurance hence a diferent specialization would be Ideal. (Marketing, Strategic Mgt, Operations Mgt, etc)

What is the price/cost of a full MBA (part time)at UON

@mawinder: reputation of a University is the most important thing for an MBA regardless of how high the quality of the MBA is.Those two don't have a long track record. The last guy from Oxford-Said biz school has better chances at getting a great job than a no.1 MBA from a public uni all else being equal.
If your friend has good work experience he can take their MBA's.If he intends to look for a better job with the MBA then USIU or Strath.

Did my MBA in Strathmore and though initially was skeptical about the cost (>Shs 1m) for the 2 year course...think its one of the best decisions i ever made in mt life.

Really enjoyed the classes and learning experience plus classes were only on Thur, Fri and Sat which fitted with my hectic work schedule...

Strath MBA has a 1 week module in IESE Barcelona, (Top 10 Business school in the world) where the learning in that one week was enough to make one feel they are ready to be a CEO.

Would definately recommend...made a difference in how approach my work and personal investments so it was totally worth it. Broadened horizons!

...@jaykay is right at times the name sales its like a VX and a tuk tuk no comparison...better pay a little bit extra and get something worthwhile and worth it...I wish people researched a little bit more if you have time go and check out how much it is to do a Bsc in Banking and Finance at the London School of Economics...you will be shocked.

Thanks will do that.Seems in Kenya the horses of MBA are Strathmore,UON,USIU.The rest e.g MMUST,MOI,PWANI,MKU,KABARAK,etc are donkeys.

where did the comments go i need to put in my two cents. The MBA has evolved. initially Kenya had only one MBA the full time thesis MBA where most graduands were tutrial assistant and research fellas - one at Lower Kabete-
then this craze for the taught MBA coursework came and the rain started beating us...
