Not so fast T-Bag. Check your local politics first. Members of the public are increasingly against these trees since they supposedly deplete water levels. There has been at least two ugly incidents in relation to this.

A government reserve was put on fire in a village whose name I cant remember in Nyeri (a ka-hill 2 kilometers south of Marua village which lies on Karatina Nyeri highway). In Gatuanyaga near Thika,the residents have resolved that the do not want any more of these Eucalyptus trees planted. Apparently they have the support of environmentalists and the government.

Sometime last year,I went to apply for a Timber permit and the forest and agriculture officer recomended that I cut down all those Eucalyptus and plant more environment friendly trees. You can try Meru Oak. Its not fast maturing but would fetch a handsome amount in future. The only drawback is that the government might deny you a harvesting permit...the government works in mysterious ways.

The political and arson risks have to be factored in your decision.
