The octavia is same as vw golf and superb same as vw passat.Both are better than the vw group coz they have been tuned by skoda.I have been looking for a 130bhp tdi octavia but its a bit expe at around 0.9m.The diesels are way better than the petrols and spare parts are quite cheap on ebay that is,just dont go to cmc.

our company has a fleet of 1.6l skoda octavias and fuel economy is usually around 12-16kms per liter the superbs I believe are guzzlers just like the passat coz they heavy.Skodas are made in the czech republic and uses identical engine and suspension parts as the vw,however the chassis and suspension are tuned to give better handling and hence are better to drive than the VW counterparts.BTW they are rated better than toyotas and most japanese cars in reliability while the VW group is rated amongst the worst.

I have a buddy who recently bought this superb a few months ago. It cost him about 0.8m. However, he says he prefers the Phaeton to the Superb. Says the Superb, though a superb drive, good handling, and outrageous comfort,is extremely cumbersome. It is not as nimble as the Phaeton which offers the same fuel efficiency, better drive, and similar good comfort.

I also understand that the various TDi's have really great consumption. (talking 15km/l for town driving)

There was this thread on SK discussing that.

One of its cumbersomeness must be to do with manoevuring(sp) over high bumps and potholes due to its rather low front bumber?

I believe it has to do with an underpowered engine. A 1.8l engine will strain to pull the car.The 1.9l 130bhp Tdi versions are the best.

@Chaka

That is exactly the problem. I think Top Gear summarised it very well 'nose-heavy weight distribution and long wheelbase gives it the alacrity of a goods train'.

@sheep

Also true. That is why you will hardly find 1.5L saloon German/European cars. Most 1.5's are hatchbacks, and they are not many. Toyota seem to have realised that now that's why there are very few (if any) 1.5L Premios (new shape) and Allions!

I've been looking for an Audi A4 1.9L TDi and mpaka I've given up. JkMwatha offered to assist, but I've not gotten around to organising myself yet.

@Sasha,keep wanting tu.....

Lakini I am in the process of setting up an office in Nairobi and will be able to give you details on total cost of 'your' A4 incl. freight/insurance/duty/clearance (i.e. landed in Nairobi).

what year model? 2002/03 ..... ama 2009?!

BTW if there's no Audi dealer/franchise in Kenya (or is there?),how would the cost of duty be tabulated?

@JkMwatha: I think a 02/03 model would do. A 09 model? You are pulling my leg!

Ebu kwanza open that office, I will be your first customer. And you will pay me agency fees coz I have line of like 4 people waiting for me to plunge! If I like, they buy too!
