Very tragic indeed!!! May the good Lord comfort the families.
Kenya police must avoid being casual in such risky operational zones. They should learn the tactics used by KDF in minimising casualties when they were amushed by Al Shabaab militants.

pole sana to the families of the fallen cops and a quick recovery to those injured. the govt should come down very hard on these criminals. and ensure the NGO/civil society types are not allowed anywhere near there. even the mobile networks there can be "mteja for a week or so.

Intelligence, intelligence. We pay too much money to support our intelligence gathering and dissemination. I find it impossible that they didn't pick this one at all.

Surely where is Kenya headed to and we are being promised 'peaceful elections' in 'March 2013'. Where is CIC to deal with this Thieves

How should the gava respond?, send KDF. I say NO. Send the same policemen to what is called Kilo Alfa and they'll get massacred till they wake up. The problem with our police force is TRAININGx3. Do it the Rwandeese way and you'll notice the difference. Ask me later for more on this, but am a very sad person today. "Peace is our profession, War is our business" ...Unknown

Doubt tribe is the issue except for some few characters. It's the 'otherness' treatment we give to people from smaller, marginalised communities and any issues happening in their areas. Conversely, 4 police dying in Nairobi would be very BIG BREAKING NEWS

No need of Kdf, 4 GSU Companies will do the work and disarm those half naked primitive energetic morans! Minus the civil societies or the so called human rights activists coz some "minimum" force has to be used. Nadondosha meli kubwa seuze ngalawa!

When you see such an event, see politics. Even the way police are trained is politics.
To say that government must respond with a hammer is to do the expected. So you are behind your opponents.
Kenyans, please wake up! What is security? A guarantee that you won't be killed or attacked arbitrarily?
Who is giving this guarantee? Can he guarantee his being?
Security cannot be about bullets!

Police training is wanting here in Kenya, a guy leaves kiganjo police college and starts working no refresher courses, no additional training etc. then one day he is sent to a problem zone like Garissa or Suguta valley and what do u expect??? It is all about training, retraining and having special squads for various assignments. Imagine a policeman who has not run 2 kilometers in like 5 years, has not used a firearm in 8 months being exposed to such kind of an environment..... result will be the biggest massacre in Africa.

Turkanas are well documented natural killers, alongside their Merille n Toposa cousins. They kill each other like flies n kill other people like it's a hobby. Natural killers. The pokot have a similar raiding n rustling culture, but hardly kill, well, they knock off 1 or 2 n move. Next time you hear of clashes between Turkana, Toposa n Merille, don't agonize too much, they don't give a damn those guys. TULIA.........UFUNZWE!
