they both are in different market segments if you look deep. So i would say, they are both leaders in their different market segments.

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

from grapevine....

i understand that the 'owner' of Tuskys is an african who used to be a driver of the Nakumatt's trucks...

he was fixed there by the Nakumatt guy...

They are not owned by the same people. However,Nakumatt has a 24% shareholding in Tuskys. The original owner of Tuskys,a Mr. Kimani, used to work for Nakumatt when it was in Nakuru. His sons are now running the show but he is still actively involved.
And yes, they are leader in their different market segements and they do have a silent 'gentlemens agreement' not to encroach on eithers turf.

I kinda feel like Nakumatt is big but Tuskys is growing.....if you don't get the drift, remember the saying that goes...if you are not growing, you are dying

nakumatt has invested heavily in eastern africa while tuskys is still learning the ropes. of course nakumatt has most super stores which are also larger in size,so is it's capital base and employees. however,i believe tuskys is growing faster......

@ Skodhe,I think they recruit by word of mouth or applications that people generally always send to every company today, advertisement or not. Most places see it unnecessary to advertise for such 'small' jobs so rely on word of mouth and those applications now that everyone is talking about cutting costs
