Hallo wazuans, i took my daughter to see a dentist and what the dentist told me left me shocked. There are too many children with dental fluorisis (brown teeth)in ongata rongai. Apparently the fluoride levels in the bore hole water in rongai is quite high.

I have started checking around and indeed the number of kids with brown teeth is amazing. But dental fluorisis only affects the beauty and self esteem of kids. The worst type is the fluorisis that attacks the bones. It literally chips away the bones.

As it stands, we have to buy bottled water for drinking and cooking and ensure utensils are thoroughly dried with a table cloth before use. And cross our fingers and hope that tuskys actually treat the bottled water they sell to us.

In a society that is obssessed with image and superficial beauty, how does a young teenage girl with brown teeth survive in the year 2020 ?

Does any wazuan know how i can treat the water at my house ama ni wakati wa kuhama ?

Unfortunately, the house is mine so kuhama is not that easy. Am hoping there could be a mini water treatment system. Or atleast an expert in wazua on how to measure fluoride levels in water.

Go to KEBS with a sample of the water and they will test for you for about 5K then go with the test results to Davis & Shirtliff in industrial area and buy a mini RO costs about 30K which you install under your kitchen sink and you are sorted!

Correct. Do test the water after installing the mini RO, just to confirm. If it is not possible to cure the brown teeth., just encourage the kids. There those from muranga n have made it in life

@limanika, are you sure encouragement can work 15 years from now ? Prevention is always better than cure.

Im a dentist. Flourosis affects children when they ingest high flouride water between ages 0 to 8. But not to worry there are Various treatments to ensure you fetch good dowry.

Invest in a water purifier for the rest of your kids

Thanks @kamundu. My daughter has actually started showing signs of mild fluorisis and she is past eight years. The teeth are not brown but when you look keenly you will notice some discolouration. Would really appreciate to know what treatment options I have as she is still growing.

On the water purifier, thats the way to go. Do you have any brand names or companies you can recommend ?
