Those who say that a Member of Parliament is a lawmaker and should not be involved in development projects are correct. But they definitely don't live in Kenya.
So a voter in Kawangware should vote for an M.P. based on his track record in parliament? This is funny. In fact, most voters have no idea what this laws or how they impact their lives. Honestly, they just don't care. To them, overcoming their daily struggles is the priority. You can debate all you want in parliament about some copyright law and it won't matter to them.

And sonko knows this pretty well. How he has gone about raising the living standards of women and youth in his constituency is admirable. We have many M.P.'s in parliament wearing expensive suits and ties and with impressive C.V.'s. Yet the people who put them there in the first place are suffering in poverty.

@2miles, I agree with you that the voter does not care about legislative issues but about tumbo issues. I have in fact stated that in my earlier post. Bv stop pointing at lower class voters, the Kawangware people. This cuts across all classes. If we are to be content with this, then I submit that we have no point in calling our MPs pigs when they increase their salos. They are doing it for the leaner pigs-u n me!

I liked the way he empathised with his constituents during the doctor's strike and took them to Nairobi hospital for treatment.
Apart from the sideshows he is there to serve the people, which would be a good thing if all leaders did the same.
The Kenya I want to see is more selfless leaders like Mike Mbuvi aka Sonko.

Shouldn't his work as an MP be foremost about representing his consequents' interests in Parliament and not making them reliant on him with such stunts like paying rent, parking etc? What is his record like in Parliament and how has it benefitted his constituency?

How can you represent them effectively in Parliament if they can't even meet their basic needs? Btw Sonko is usually very active in Parliament only that in most cases he ends up being ejected because of his side shows. He ususally he seeks to address issues directly affecting his constituents like frequent traffic snarl-ups on Outer Ring Road, demolishon of Mtindwa market.....just recently he lined up more than 300 survivors of the Sinai fire to testify in a suit seeking more than Sh25 billion from the government as compensation. My Mpig has done absolutely nothing for us despite being so vocal in Parliament.

The government has agreed to compensate victims of the Sinai fire in Nairobi that killed more than 100 people three years ago. High Court judge David Majanja was yesterday said that talks between the government, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Kenya Pipeline, the National Environmental Management Authority and the victims have materialised. - See more at: http://the-star.co.ke/ne...re#sthash.viloQYij.dpuf

He is going to be one rich fellow together with his lawyer as the costs of the suit could come to 1.5b.

This is the man Kidero should be worried about.

If Sonko decides to he could become the next Governor of Nairobi.

check his votes in the last elections.
