I liked the way he empathised with his constituents during the doctor's strike and took them to Nairobi hospital for treatment.
Apart from the sideshows he is there to serve the people, which would be a good thing if all leaders did the same.
The Kenya I want to see is more selfless leaders like Mike Mbuvi aka Sonko.

Shouldn't his work as an MP be foremost about representing his consequents' interests in Parliament and not making them reliant on him with such stunts like paying rent, parking etc? What is his record like in Parliament and how has it benefitted his constituency?

How can you represent them effectively in Parliament if they can't even meet their basic needs? Btw Sonko is usually very active in Parliament only that in most cases he ends up being ejected because of his side shows. He ususally he seeks to address issues directly affecting his constituents like frequent traffic snarl-ups on Outer Ring Road, demolishon of Mtindwa market.....just recently he lined up more than 300 survivors of the Sinai fire to testify in a suit seeking more than Sh25 billion from the government as compensation. My Mpig has done absolutely nothing for us despite being so vocal in Parliament.

@Taz, didn't know that about his being constructive contribution in Parliament. Don't follow Parliamentary news much and the bits I get about him in Parliament has always been about his dressing, being kicked out etc.

@sitaki.kujulikana, am not joking. What in your opinion is the role of Parliament and Members of Parliament?

Honestly, I thought you were joking - I have never come across the laid down role of an mp, but in my opinion the current role of an mp is representation of his constituency in parliament plus spearhead, initiate, lobby and manage development projects and the well being of his constituents.

Then the mp will grow fat and the constituent ever thin.

The politician must play the role of making sure the citizen's desires are met, and in the course of it the politician is paid.

So now all can grow fat.

Maybe what Sonko is doing is both necessary and good. But is this all he is intending to do?
