Am looking at their website at the trending/most popular 'news' and the paper looks more like a tabloid with every passing day. A quick glance at the homepage shows that these are the most popular news:

Son catches mother in the act
Village chief dies after month long erection
Forty? Kiss intimacy bye
Teacher jailed for taking teen out for lunch
Lovebirds nabbed during a steamy romp in company car

What is happening? And why are some of the 'news' appearing in the gutter Kenyan-post? Who is copying from who?

DITTO.This paper has always rivaled gutter tabloids for as long as i can remember. The worst is when they copypaste sleaze stories from the net n portley them as their own.Pure plagiarism.

They have a strategy advisor? maybe they are reaching out to a defined 'niche' market.

Crossed what line? Standard newspaper is a 'tabloid'. Their forte is sensational stories so I think they are well within the line.

BBI will solve it

I think the group strategy changed once baul melly became the MD...he has really messed up the company...from KTN to the paper....They even have a press freedom corner at their HQ...with a garden and all...They even had a campaign to turn the day they were attacked a free press day...Ambitions I tell you.

I remember when karoney was incharge of KTN news she wuld personally respond to any query or suggestion by the viewers...Thats how Jicho pevu was born. Now I dont know who is in charge in that messed up place.

Not to mention that politically, they show open Bias. We All know which side of the "two horses" they support. All papers, Including Nation do it too, but they have some sense of balance - Standard it too open and plain.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God..

Reading 'the standard' is like reading those funny 2 page papers handed out in buses, heading to bungoma
