my understanding is that he was a lorry owner contracted to carry stuff, only that he didnt know that his clients were crooks

No relation at all...at least am alive to respond...but am left wondering, why did Gikandi decide to let his driver off and drive himself which was unusual?

Then instructs his driver to TAKE AN OFF, and himself to Nakuru for "BUSINESS" yes?
