I am also taking position in centum at prices below 12 after going through management AGM presentation. I think's grossly undervalued

I wouldnt touch centum even with a nine foot pole...a company that does not give dividends....and remember everyone hates Chris...rem what he did to uchumi...he has done it before and will do it again....with Centum. I dont see any sense when net profit declines yet they retain the cash(that should be given as dividends) to expand the business...it means someone is pocketting the cash or otherwise.

I agree centum is a dead dodo company.
james Mworia and Chris have wasted the money Peter Mwangi left the company with.

The SA market is also on a roll.
South Africa's benchmark stock index closed above 33,000 for the first time in its 17-year history on Wednesday, booking a
record close for the third
straight day as investors piled into oversold mining firms such as Anglo American.

We have been in a Bull Market as has most of Africa throughout 2012 and I expect any Corrections to remain shallow and short lived as They have been all Year. If we can get the Election off with a semblance of Decorum and Efficacy next Year, this Bull Market will have Lift Off. Rich

EABL and BAT volume spikes since Sept...! This is hot money as per the turnover amounts.

As for the banks, KCB takes the crown for March, April, May, Sept and Oct. Most likely huge spike will come up in Nov as Q3 results come in.

Mpesa bank huge spikes were in Feb, May and Sept. In Nov we will see huge spike again as H1 results are published.

I'm also watching KQ to see its reaction once H1 results are published in Nov.

Do the FTSE kenya indices have a role to play in this NSE run from last year. the top five in the two indices are among the most heavily traded shares and the ones that have made the most gains. (i know the criteria in the indices involves liquidity, but still!)

I also had a hunch that this was the case.

Yes they will. Obviously h1 2011 was thoroughly shaved by inflation, USDKES rally and the lull effects post 2010 price war as well as MNP hype. So H1 2012 will likely be double H1 2011 if the momentum of H2 2011 was maintained. Also from the sob stories coming from Orange, Airtel and Yu about their bad cashflow status as well as MTR now ditched, I don't see why revenues should be down. I'd be surprised if the H1 2012 results show a dip in revenue and profitability compared to H2 2011.

The only risk barriers for now are MTR and that lousy excise tax on mobile money which will affect all telcos...

Mid day, EABL has already moved a turnover of 104M. Mpesa bank has hit a 2012 high of 4.50/- gearing up for H1 2012 results. By Nov 11th we may see a high of 5/-.

surely with the index performing so well this year, we can't expect it to perform nearly as well next year because of the high base created this year. a slower growth next year, then the next it can grow at higher rate in 2014. unless we are/will be in a full on bull , i don't see back to back 20% percent index gains
